Cam at 14K or the crankshaft at 14K? If the crankshaft is at 14K, the cam is at 7K.
Coolest video ever
Sounds like a dildo.
How important it is to regularly change the oil.
The internal combustion engine is an absolute engineering marvel and this video proves it every time I watch it.
14,000 RPM is the crankshaft. The camshaft’s are rotating at half of that.
Its burning up
That's why I think the Combustion Engine is THE marker for a Technologically advanced civilization. If a country can make one (truly and independently- not through just assembly), then it is an advanced country.
Aye bruh id get that oil leak fixed before the next pull
🫣
Filmed at 24 fps.. too slow. should be shot with a high speed camera at 5000 frames per second or more..
I’ve always wondered how it’s possible to have SO MANY parts moving in synchronous movement doing what they do.That’s some over the top engineering and material physics taking place here. Comparatively little failure considering what’s actually taking place in millions of vehicles worldwide, even if most of them don’t get anywhere NEAR 14,000 RPM. CERTAINLY Ive always loved muscle cars but surely Electric can’t come soon enough, way too much engineering going on realistically…
Incredible stuff.
so nice to be able to see whats happening at that speed, thank you
Modern engines don't have valvesprings and rockers. Valves are operated by oilpressure and are self adjusting. By the way the camshafts operate at half the rpm.
So never use the cheapest oil and
Now imagine a timing chain jumping by just one tooth and everything goes to Hell
Multiply 2 times the speed by click continously on the right video.. 😂
crazy to imagine that the piston goes up and down a lot faster than this.
2:17 Aaaaaaaaaaaah !
This should be filed under “things that you would never think would work but actually do”
Imagine this was a ohv with a flat tappet cam….
I really don't understand how will the air enter the cylinder at that speed! How does the Temperature increase and decrease very rapidly? That is really a masterpiece of human art.
Fascinating fast is the piston speed is the same on a 12,000rpm indy car, an 8,000rpm VTEC motor, and a 110rpm slow speed diesel.
Wow that is intense. It is amazing the forces inside a modern motor. It's also the level of engineering it took to get valve trains to rev this fast. As fast as those cams are spinning the crank is going twice as fast. You can see why pushrod motors can never go this fast. Those springs are bouncing all around and spinning and everything, and the wear on the cams is a lot too. This is why diesels last so much longer. The lubrication system has to be so intense too. That is just crazy.
If assuming the crankshaft is turning 14K, these cams are turning at HALF that, 7K..... these valves are only (only) getting ponded at 7K and it's frightening. IF these cams are moving at 14K, then what engine is this???!!!
Mechanical engineering ❤
This is how I drive hire cars
No wonder gasoline engines have such a short life span.
Slingshot something in there please
this is hard to think about
BOOM!
Watching this makes me miss my GSX-R600.
Honda drivers be like:
It’s interesting how the coils didn’t start glowing with the lack of oil to cool them. At least it looked like there was a lack of oil.
You wonder how the valve even has time to come back up.
I think it's called "valve float" when they don't actually make it all the way back up & it's a problem
Where's the slow mo guys?
Was it my imagination or was 1 spring turning in 1 direction while the spring retainer was turning in the other direction? 😳😑😳🤯🤯
It suffered a nosebleed, tho'.
So the crank is doing 28k?... no way. Cams only spin half the speed of a crank.
Press 1-9 and make glorious music.
if those valve springs spin any faster might have to dynamically balance them :)
this confirms what an expert said, almost all the engine noise you hear is valve train noise not exhaust
The I.C.E. blows me away every time I think about it
Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC)
It's amazing that such a mechanism even works
The cam is quicker than the eye 🤷♂️.
I think I'll go hug my car now.
If I did that with my BMW I’d be fucked!
